Three Albany State University Golden Rams softball players participated in the 2023 Minority Softball Prospects All-Star Game that was held on June 2, at Georgia Gwinnett College Softball Field. The MSP HBCU All-Star Game featured the top 40 HBCU talent from D1, D2, NAIA, and Junior College levels. Albany State Golden Rams Madison Hurt, Keyatta Ayers and Morgan Brown participated in the All-Star extravaganza.
Madison Hurt is a sophomore from Phenix City, Alabama. Madison had a MVP type of season for the Golden Rams. Madison was named to the 2023 All SIAC First Team as a second baseman. Hurt was also named to the All SIAC Second Team as a Utility Player. Hurt started 35/36 games. Hurt was outstanding at second base for the Golden Rams. Hurt was stellar defensively! At the plate, Hurt had a batting average of .389. In 131 at bats, Hurt had 51 hits and scored 42 runs. Hurt had 3 triples and 4 doubles with 12 RBIs. Hurt also stolen 31/32 bases.
Keyatta Ayers is a sophomore from Rockmart, Georgia. Ayers had a stellar season for the Golden Rams. Keyatta was named to the 2023 All SIAC Second Team as an outfielder. Ayers started 31 games for the Golden Rams. In 110 at bats, Ayers had a .327 batting average. Ayers had 36 hits and scored 25 runs. Ayers had 2 triples and 3 doubles and 20 RBIs. Ayers also stole 15 bases in 16 attempts.
Morgan Brown is a sophomore from Thompson Station, Tennessee. Morgan was named to the 2023 All SIAC First Team as a third baseman. Morgan was also the 2022 SIAC Freshman of the Year. Brown followed her outstanding freshman season by having a sensational sophomore season. Morgan had a .396 batting average with a .528 SLG%. In 106 at bats, Morgan had 3 home runs (5 doubles) and 26 RBIs. Morgan also scored 17 runs.
The All-Star weekend kicked off with a career symposium on Thursday, June 1. The All-Star game was held at 7:15 p.m. on Friday, June 2. Prior to the game, there was a home run derby and a fastest player competition.
